New to world of ASHPs: Ideal Logic Air Monobloc heat pump 8kW questions
So we got a grant late last year from Ec04 . Solar panels air source pump and insulation.
We were already all electric and were a very small bungalow. 4 rooms. 2 beds a front room and kitchen.
The pump ( Ideal Logic Air Monobloc heat pump 8kw ) and solar panels have been fitted . We're currently in process of having more insulation fitted.
While the bungalow is warm no complaints there the cost is killing us already. Our bills were around £6 a day previously know their £10 plus.
The thermostat is a halo and is set at 17 which is comfortable for us.
I've already adjusted the heating curve /weather compensation first 0.8 now it's 1.0 . Tbh 2 weeks no real change in terms of cost.
I've literally watched every video associated with this make of pump. Can someone please offer some advice. Big thank you in advance

Can I ask what triggered you to do this. Did it change the house temperature? (No implied criticism, just trying to find out a bit of the background)
In general you want the WC curve as low as possible.
Do you know if you have a buffer tank (a second tank in addition to your hot water tank)
Could you post a picture and model number of the Halo. The standard one is designed for boilers not heat pumps, I thought they did a heat pump specific one but now Im not so sure. If it is designed for boilers it may not be helping
Do bear in mind that this is the most expensive time of year and it will get a lot cheaper. That said it should be less than half the cost that all electric was at this time of year, do you know what that was, is 6 the average or actually a Jan/Feb figure
4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.
@jamespa firstly thank you for replying.
I'd been part of other air pump group as and it seemed to be the recommended thing to do. It hasn't improved anything.
A few weeks after it was fitted there was a period of around 10 -14 days where it was literally using £5-6 a day. It was as before but no idea why.
Posted by: @tinkestral-6@jamespa I've posted a picture of tank
er no picture, please post picture of tank and halo.
When you turned up the WC from 0.8 to 1 did it change the temperature of the house?

Hello, please can you post some pictures of the pipework as it comes out of the back of the heat pump, up the wall and into your house. It looks as though there's not much insulation on the pipework.
Thanks
Bob
OK, so...completely by accident I was reading the installation manual for this heat pump.
The manual says it has a "cold start protection mode".
"With the Heat Pump in Standby Mode, if at any time a heating demand is initiated and the primary heating circuit water temperature is below 17oC, then the Heat Pump will not commence operation. As at these water temperatures, damage of the appliance may be caused upon start-up."
The system will use the hot water tank immersion heater to preheat the heat pump.
Also...the frost protection mode does the same thing.
"Firstly, the Heat Pump circulator pump will initiate, if after a defined time period, the primary circuit water temperature is still ≤ 4 °C the backup heater will initiate to raise the temperature to 22 °C. Once this temperature is achieved the backup heater will be terminated and normal Heat Pump operation may then resume. Note: The backup heater utilised in this mode will depend upon the system configuration (refer to Section 2.7.6 Cold Start Function on page 22 for available solutions)."
When you had your £5-6 per day, do you know what the outside temperature was?
I don't see anything in the manual to disable freeze protection.
Bob
That insulation doesn't very good to me, maybe others can comment.
The last picture is different to one of the earlier ones. There seems to be a paving slab under the heat pump in one of the photos, have the installers been back to modify the system? Is the insulation still installed?
Bob
No but the plumbers put the slab there. The plumbers are coming back out as the insulation guys are saying pipes need to be moved.
