@chickenbig looking at that it appears to concentrate on and used entirely for close up inspection of components and machinery etc as opposed to the outside of the building in full.

Retrofitted 11.2kw Mitsubishi Ecodan to new radiators commissioned November 2021.
14 x 500w Monocrystalline solar panels.

2 ESS Smile G3 10.1 batteries.
ESS Smile G3 5kw inverter.

@morgan I found it to work OK outdoors (taking a few steps backwards), although the temperature range selection was a tad annoying if you got any clear (cold) sky in the picture.

Depends what you call cheap, but for about £75 - search "MLX90640 2.8" Thermal Imager" on ebay.  I have not tried them, but it may do the job.   Of course, "only the rich can afford to buy cheap".
