Given the amount of times we come across wrongly sized heat pumps, I wonder if there is any mileage in setting up a facility where owners can search for and arrange to swap their model for a different one. Kind of a dating app for heat pump owners? I can foresee some problems such as distance and down times and warranties but I think I might use such a service if I was in a tight spot.

An intriguing idea, @bontwoody, and one I wish I'd thought of myself.

That said, I suspect it might be like one of those awkward parties where there are loads of men and only a few ladies (or vice versa) meaning an awful lot of disappointed attendees; from what I can remember, we see an awful lot more posts about over-specced heat pumps than under-specced ones. Even so, though, if it helps even a small proportion of home owners in a difficult situation then it could be worth it.

@majordennisbloodnok LOL, thats an amusing extension of my analogy 🙂 That might not be as big a problem as we might think as one mans oversize is another mans right size (or woman or whatever!). The bottleneck I think might be at the very low end of 5kW where thats unlikely to be oversized. The good news is though that they arent too expensive new at that size.

Ive implemented quite a few web based database applications over the years and this wouldnt be that difficult, I would put the time and effort in if I thought there was a need.

Over-sized 12kW Samsung gen6 ASHP, low mileage, one careful owner seeks 8kW unit for long term relationship.

Samsung 12kW gen6 ASHP with 50L volumiser and all new large radiators. 3.645kWp solar (south facing), Fox ESS inverter.
Solar generation completely offsets ASHP usage annually. We no longer burn ~1600L of kerosene annually.
