I'm certainly sold on the open loop, get the heat pump controller to do as much as possible, with weather/load compensation, minimise use of extra pumps/buffer tanks etc (unless absolutely necessary) philosophy for high efficiency. 

The more I discuss with family members the more I'm asked about in house controls. 

I've always assumed best bet is to have the ASHP OEM controller/thermostat (hopefully wireless!) And control/feedback from a single internal temperature measurement. Relying on system balancing rather than cutting with TRVs (for example)

I guess I have 2 questions:

1) what should I be looking for a top quality installer to propose / what should I be avoiding?

2) how best to handle those times a room or two need to run a bit hotter than the rest of the house (e.g. older/younger/health issues or otherwise cold sensitive guests)?

I've been working on the assumption that I move the wireless thermostat and accept the rest of the house will be warmer too (as far as ambient temps allow) or that I might have the occasional need of a top up electric fan/oil radiator. 

However it's an area I've not really looked into so thoughts / advice very much appreciated. Thanks in advance
