Connecting to Midea MSmartHome using a PC
Posted by: @derek-mSo, I suppose the next test would be to change all the occurrences of 'outdoor_temperature' to 'byte_22', in all the relevant C3 files, including midea_devices.py.
Thinking about it, I have already done this (when I tested the individual bytes above 21 ages ago). The results were:
data_offset + 22 = 0 (fixed, stays at 0)
data_offset + 23 = 128 (fixed, stays at 128)
24 device stops working (fails to load)
25 device stops working (fails to load)
30 device stops working (fails to load)
A further test would be to change all occurrences of 'tank_actual_temperature' to 'byte_21' to see if it still produces data for 'tank_actual_temperature'.
I think I can predict that byte_21 will show the tank actual temperature, because the variable name is immaterial (the total mystery/porcine air speed tests). Nonetheless I did this, but briefly (because tank_actual_temperature is a live reading, one that I record and use), and sure enough
'byte_21': 49
which is what the wired controller currently shows the DHW temp to be (49 degrees).
Midea 14kW (for now...) ASHP heating both building and DHW
More HA f*ckwittery this morning, database corrupted again, I was working on HA or rather midea_ac_lan at the time but only editing python files as I have done before, so I very much doubt that was the cause. much more likely, HA was just being its usual delinquent self.
I'm almost out of patience with it, but am not yet quite angry enough to gleefully destroy it forever. In the meantime, this thread has wandered some way from its original title which includes MSmarthome (another crock of sheet) so it is time to start another thread with a more accurate title: Connecting Home Assistant to a Midea Heat Pump. You can find it here (<=link).
Midea 14kW (for now...) ASHP heating both building and DHW
@fishboy25uk I have been using the Comfort Home app since I had a Midea Heat pump installed 18 months ago. Pretty flakey ... often have to clear data and restart ... but working reasonably up until the last week or so when I have started to get network errors
