An abject and utter failure...
I have been meaning for a while to see what data has been published about Green Home Grant applications and installations, for both the Voucher scheme and the LAD schemes. These schemes, it must be remembered, are THE main way the government intend to get us Luddites to take up low carbon energy. If they fail, the whole thing fails.
Background: in late 2020, the government announced plans to install 600,000 heat pumps in the UK every year until 2028... 600,000 x 8 = 4.8m
Rather amazingly, the data is available. Here are the headline figures for England for all GHG ASHP installations:
GHG Voucher Scheme: 3,968 (to 7th(?) Feb 2022)
LAD Phase 1: 773 (to end Feb 2022)
LAD Phase 2: 116 (to end Feb 2022) (and I am presumably one of those 116 installations...)
There are around 25,000,000 dwelling in England. You can do the maths as well as I can...
Sources:
GHG Voucher scheme (Table 2.1)
LAD scheme (Tables 1.1 and 1.2)
Midea 14kW (for now...) ASHP heating both building and DHW

I'm afraid that you need to understand that when someone obtains a job at BEIS or MCS, the first requirement before they are allowed to start work is that they have to have a lobotomy, so that they are completely devoid of common sense.
Posted by: @hamish-mcmichaelcan you post the link to the data please?
The links are there, I posted them with the original post, but for some reason they don't stand out as links. Hover over the left hand end of each of the three lines under 'Sources', and you should see them change, the cursor changes to a finger/pointer and the linked to site appears at the bottom of the screen. They work as links for me when I click them. The first two are xlsx data files, the third is a pdf.
@editor - maybe CSS not behaving as it should on the links?

Which leaves the rest of us feeling like we need lobotomies, to avoid feeling pain of living in a mad world. I suspect MCS are are major factor in why the UK ASHP industry is in the state it is.

"For the rejected applications, 49 per cent were rejected as the application was deemed ineligible."
I'm sorry, what?
Off grid on the isle of purbeck
2.4kW solar, 15kWh Seplos Mason, Outback power systems 3kW inverter/charger, solid fuel heating with air/air for shoulder months, 10 acres of heathland/woods.
My wife’s house: 1946 3 bed end of terrace in Somerset, ASHP with rads + UFH, triple glazed, retrofit IWI in troublesome rooms, small rear extension.

I should wait till after coffee before trying to digest that spreadsheet - I thought that was 'illegible', hence my utter confusion 🙂

@hughf - the whole thing is eye-watering. The minute numbers of actual installs is only the headline...
