RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By JamesPa, 5 hours ago

This is so important. For my money householders need to know how to balance radiators using the lsv. Why? Because, given that its unlikely that radiators are perfectly sized, you really need to bala...
RE: Getting the best out of a heat pump - is Homely a possible answer?

By MarcT, 6 hours ago

@johnmo and @benson Thanks! I was aware there was a portal, but had never stumbled across any means to access it - when I directly requested access to it when discussing issues with Support, it is alw...
bontwoody RE: UFH and ASHPs

By bontwoody, 7 hours ago

@guydeb Yes. No problem running just UFH from an ashp. The issue I think would be the very low heat loss in a 40m2 new extension. How sure are you that you would need two heat pumps for the whole hous...
Mars RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By Mars, 7 hours ago

@andrewj, you’re absolutely right that these systems work best when the house is well balanced and properly designed from the outset. Even with compensation enabled, issues like oversized emitters in ...
RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By JamesPa, 7 hours ago

The other important point about wc is that the controller gets the signal to change what it is doing at the same time as the principal driving factor (OAT) changes. This means that it changes in time...
RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By AndrewJ, 7 hours ago

I think this is only part of the key information on this topic that is missing from the video conversation - I can only see this working in a system that is well balanced such that other rooms are abl...
RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

Surely you can 'correct' a mildly oversized rad by turning down the lsv during the balancing process? Certainly that's what I did with my installation. Obviously not ideal but, given the scatter in ...
RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By JamesPa, 7 hours ago

As @ashp-bobba says there are lots of variables. My house takes 3-6hrs to change temperature by a degree. I have one room with a fancoil that responds faster. The question hardly ever arises, other...
Mars RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By Mars, 7 hours ago

@andrewj I see there have been a lot of replies already, and the video is attracting a lot of comments. My two cents worth: Weather compensation adjusts the flow temperature of your heat pump based on...
RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By AndrewJ, 8 hours ago

Fair enough, sort of what I was expecting really. Thanks for your input, it's been very helpful.
RE: Load Compensation and Weather Compensation

By ASHP-BOBBA, 9 hours ago

@andrewj Oh, thats a good one, so the answer is subject to what power and recovery you have for the room/s assuming its typicly balanced and has the capacity to climb another deg as a lot of system ar...
RE: Getting the best out of a heat pump - is Homely a possible answer?

By benson, 9 hours ago

@johnmo yes. This is effectively what some of us are doing to access the dashboard. You don't have to recommission it, but then again this would presumably remove previous installer access as you say....
