Vaillant & OVO partner up to offer Heat Pump Plus
There's a new partnership between Vaillant and OVO which they've called Heat Pump Plus.
From what I've just read, Heat Pump Plus is an add-on specifically designed for existing and new OVO customers with Vaillant "connected" air source heat pumps. This means not only do you need to switch your energy supplier to OVO, but your heat pump must also be equipped with specific Vaillant smart control components. This is the crucial catch: to access the discounted rate, you'll need to have your Vaillant heat pump installed by an OVO-approved installer, ensuring it includes the required myVAILLANT connect, sensoCOMFORT control and myVAILLANT app.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, the programme unlocks a significantly lower electricity rate of 15p per kWh (ah, the good days from 2021) for your heat pump usage, compared to the standard variable tariff of around 28-30p per kWh. This translates to potential annual savings of up to £495.

This really is the thin end of a very mucky wedge of commercial lock in. That rate should be available to all heat pump users instead of artificially manipulating the price to ensure that uber polluting gas and kerosene are kept low. I so hate starting the day with a rant! 😀
Just want to flag up that this tariff is now available to Ecodan owners that have their systems talking to MELCloud. I have had my first bill through and somewhat amazingly it was a smooth experience. The "rebate" appeared on my bill and was inline with expectations. My heating system wasn't installed by OVO and there was no such requirement, so I guess things might have changed.
It did seem to be of a "initial trial" nature before they presumably try to scale the scheme up. However I was lucky enough to get on it - it's a decent saving, for the time being at least, and most importantly there are no TOU restrictions. If there are any questions I'm happy to answer.
Hi all, wanted to check if anyone had experienced the same issue. I'm currently with Octopus Cosy and trying to get a quote with OVO, but there systems say I've got two Multi meter electric meters, when I only have one (see photo).
I've been back and forth between OVO and Octopus, trying to sort but no luck.
Could the Octopus Cosy time of use tarrifs be causing this duplication of meters?
My friend recently had a very similar experience when switching from Eon to British Gas. He had to pester Eon for 3 about months to update some central database.
@ecodan-efficiency 3 months! I've been told about getting octopus or OVO to email the central database... But neither wants to!
@ecodan-efficiency I recently used the interwebby thing to see if I could join any supplier to take advantage of an EV tariff - though I have no vehicle at all. I saw that Eon Next might have a cheaper scheme and (reluctantly) gave them my postcode so I might access the details of their EV tariff…
Eon Next told me I did not have a smart meter to avail myself of the service I had chosen (I stated I had a smart meter, which I do) therefore, I could not sign up. I used to be with N-Power who sold me out to Eon who then became Eon Next and they managed to read my SMETS 1 meter for a few years (very erratically to say the least). Sometimes I think that the larger the organisations becomes, the greater the inability they experience to differentiate their elbow from their rear end. Regrets, Toodles.
Toodles, he heats his home with cold draughts and cooks his food with magnets.
@samiebon1 the issue I got was that the offer isnt available any more “on a waitlist….”
An update - got through to a helpful Octopus employee, explained my back and forth and asked for them to email the National Database. They did so and I've managed to start my switch to OVO... Next step is to get signed up to the Heat Pump add on!
Hopefully iv done the right thing today by signing up to EVO.
Any updates on how smoothly this has happened for anyone on here?
Not sure if there’s any changes since this thread began but I’ll be charged 15p per KWh used.
plus 7p per KWh for all EV charging anytime of the day 24/7.
@westkent assuming you’re still writing about the Vaillant/OVO 15p for heat pumps offer, I thought the offer was now “full”.
If the topic has wandered (it often does!) and I’ve not noticed then my apologies and ignore this contribution. But if they are offering this again then Good, it will suit many people.
