It might be interesting to see which technologies are used and which tariff? Or maybe there are so many variables that it's not possible to get many takeaways without deeper analysis?

I've listed Octopus tariffs as those are the ones I'm familiar with - if possible answer with your equivalent.

With 12 poll answers i may not have captured everything but hope the majority are included.

THE POLL ALLOWS YOU TO VOTE ON MULTIPLE OPTIONS. SELECT EVERYTHING THAT'S RELEVANT TO YOU!

Messed that up straight away as saw the 'multiple answers please' just after voting for my tariff.

Can't amend it now, by the looks of things, and can't re-vote.

Tarrifs seem limited to Octopus.  Im with EON so voted for nearest equivalent.

Bear in mind that for anyone with solar PV export capability (me, for a start), there will be two tariffs. That's why I ticked both fixed and agile. No idea what that'll do for your ability to get any kind of picture from the results.

@majordennisbloodnok thanks. Unfortunately  i can't update to clarify. My intention was import tariffs only. But we'll see if anything meaningful is discovered from the poll!

I too have Fixed export as well as Intelligent Go for imports

I ticked Intelligent and Agile, I'm on Agile at the moment but will switch to Eon equivalent once my inverter is fitted and the batteries connected. That was supposed to be tomorrow but apparently it hasn't arrived yet.

but will switch to Eon equivalent

Watch EON.  I am currently with them but the renewal terms for my import and export tariffs, if I were to accept them, would result in a net cost increase of 57%.  I guess I always knew that some aspects of the tariffs they offered in 2025 couldn't last, so was on the look out all along.  Back to Octopus for 2026!

me too. I switch from favourable export to favourable import in October. It makes about two thousand pounds a year difference in doing so if you have a large export and in my case allows a nett zero annual power cost. But for how long….

Interesting you do a mid year switch.  Van I ask between which tarrifs/providers.  Do you switch back in March/April?

@jamespa 1st March onto intelligent flux, back to cosy 1st Oct.

IOFlux is amazingly profitable if you have large array and compatible battery, but no EV. I’m around £2.5k in credit by October which easily takes me through winter power costs and covers heat pump servicing and my water bills too.
I’m looking forward to Tesla’s VPP power offering, it’s going to have to be better than than IOF or IOG or they won’t get any market share.n

Thanks for that, yes I can see that with Import price = export price it can be a good deal in Summer, too good to be sustainable surely.

However like all these things you have to go with what is currently available.

I switch back to octopus on 5th Jan and of course thats to the variable rate tarrif intelligent.  Octopus Go was my target tarrif, and perhaps still is (I have an EV but no charger so cant access Intelligent Go, I dont currently have a battery because I havent yet been able to get the business case to work)  I now have a couple of weeks to do yet more calculations whilst enjoying Christmas!

With an EV IOF doesn’t work, so no meaning to pay a premium to get a smart battery.

LFP battery wholesale costs are plummeting at the moment, that will feed into retail soon, you may be better waiting until they flatline. That will also give time to see if sodium will replace lithium too.
