Magnetised water
Based on our veg and plant growing, we've started to use magnets on our hosepipes (from Plantsurge) to magnetise the water and it's been an experiment that is working out quite well. There are a lot of skeptics when it comes to the subject of magnetised water, and I've done a lot of reading on the subject (magnetised water and its effects on plants) and it's a fascinating subject (to me anyway) and our seedlings this year have been stronger and bigger than ever before.
As part of my reading though, on the subject of heating and water, I came across studies that showed that magnetised water combats limescale and will therefore prolong the life of boilers (probably heat pumps too) and water pumps. So we fitted a PlantsurgeXL last month –
We descaled our kettle (which would get small deposits) and one month on our kettle is limescale free.

Our plumber fitted one of these type of things prior to the water entering our hot water tank. Not sure if it actually works though
As an industrial chemist I'm really curious to know exactly what in water you think you are magnetizing?
@smoke-me-a-kipper, perhaps the term “magnetizing” is incorrect. From my reading, magnetic fields can physically affect the properties of water, and this in turn can play a role in physiological and biochemical reactions. This has been proven in plant and veg studies, but I’ve not been able to ascertain how the physical properties of water are affected - maybe you can cast some insights given your background.

@smoke-me-a-kipper no idea if it works, plumber just fitted one when he was installing. I did look into it and apparently its to do with the magnetic field causing the scale crystals to form. This makes them less likely to deposit themselves onto surfaces. I'm an engineer not a chemist so I've attached a paper from the Journal of petroleum for you to read.
I'd personally advise skipping to the conclusions
Prior studies have shown that the application of magnetic field treatment can inhibit the formation of mineral-ion scale in both water andrich MEG systems (AL Helal et al., 2018; AL Helal et al., 2019) - I've also included both of these for your bedtime reading
@batalto, for some reason I missed your reply and I'll read this paper tonight.
It's been interesting to see how many people have dismissed us using Plantsurge for our plants and veg with no basis, and some cited Wikipedia as their literary source. Our seedlings have never looked better.
Last week, I read two medical studies that have stated there could be benefits to magnetising mains water coming into the house that we consume because it can, amongst numerous things, lower the risk of diabetes.

@editor I prefer to look at where studies are published, who published them and are they peer reviewed. Anyone can publish anything they like.
Also correlation is not causation. Just because something looks connected, doesn't mean it is. For example if everyone magnetising their water happens to be a health freak with a BMI of 20 there is little chance of diabetes (type 2) Vs someone who eats takeaway every day and has a BMI of 40
