Vaillant Ambisense - Review
I wanted to write this review so that others considering the system don’t need to go through the same process of trial and error that I did. I’ve no links to Vaillant and am not a heating engineer (former upstream oil and gas).
I fitted this system to my house due to drastically different thermal characteristics of different rooms as well as secondary heating sources (log burners) whilst seeking to maximise efficiency and provide a solid foundation for renewable options.
VRC700F control, VR920 internet gateway, 4 x VR50 remote radiator valves, 2 x VR51 room thermostat, VR91 and VRC700 app.
The VRC700 allows weather compensation with adaptive heating curves for different zones which allows me to reduce flow temperature for mild conditions with added advantage of recognising the temperature delta I demand i.e if delta is 3 deg between demand and current it would use a higher flow temp vs 1 degree the idea being not overheat the room. It also allows integration with solar thermal and a heat pump with the suitable interface module, this allows bivalent points to be set at certain external temperatures.
The system is modular so I’ve grouped two valves (radiators) in each large space controlled by the room thermostat, this can then have its own 7 day heating profile.
The big limitation of the system is that the VRC700 is always your reference temperature i.e. the boiler will only fire when the ambisesense demands a temperature above that of the VRC700. Having the wireless version makes this easier as you will need to play around with location.
Hopefully that is a summary of the system, but if you have any questions please just ask.
Matt
Just seen this now. Can you please send me a few images of the heat pump via email (editor@renewableheatinghub.co.uk) and I’ll post it review in the reviews section of the main site?
