Homely vs TaDo for a heat pump. Does Homely only optimise twice per day?
@anels HelloAnels, I have an LLH and from the testing I have carried out, it is fairly efficient (results published some weeks back in RHH) so am not about to rip it out! When the service engineer from Daikin carried out the first annual service, he commented that the primary pump sees ver little resistance and the whole system runs very cleanly. The last few weeks has shown a COP (via the Homely Dashboard info) of 4 - 4.8 and I think this is quite respectable especially as we run the whole house at 22.5 degrees C. 24/7. The Homely controller also controls the secondary pump and has the advantage that it stops the pump when not required unlike the Neo Air which kept it running 24/7!
The Onecta app is in my opinion of very limited use as very little information beyond OAT and consumption figures appear in the details. As Homely has taken over all functions around LWT and WC plus anticipating temperature drops and rises and can use the Agile API to monitor tariff use to best advantage, combine it with weather warnings etc., the Smart+ mode would be very useful if working straight off the grid. With a battery, this is less critical. We have been using the Smart mode now for a week and more and our setting of 22.5 degrees C. never drops below and only rises by 0.6 degrees for a short time before moderating itself again. Overall, we are very impressed with it. (Disclaimer: I paid full price and do not have any monetary or share interest in EverGreen Energy / Homely!)

@morgan I am assuming that the internally derived data is reasonably accurate - but it is all I have to go by anyway. Checking this morning, the COP is 5+ but then, it isn’t the weather to tax the system very much - even for an IAT of 22.5 degrees
C.!

I have also been experimenting with 2.5 degrees C. setback at night as you will see in the graph, but with good insulation, the temperature doesn’t drop much anyway. Regards, Toodles.
