Questions and comments about annual heat pump maintenance and servicing
Do I need to order a yearly maintenance to keep RHI? The annual declaration has only asked if my installation is in good working order.
Or is it required for the manufacturer's warranty?
And if it's mandatory, can I call someone else than my original installer?
I've called our installer, Greener Living, about two dozen times. They have promised a call back every time and I still can spend my £160 with them to have a look at my system. 🙁
I'm getting frustrated.
I'm not sure is a different local installer would be more willing, but I'd give it a go if won't lose anything. (Although considering how "easy" to get a plumber, maybe just wasting my energy)
@kundk I sympathise with your frustrations with Greener Living. The company is very poor at communicating. I checked about the warranty for my Samsung with Freedom Heat Pumps who issued my certificate and the annual maintenance can be done by any suitably qualified person. There is no need to stick with GL. I am going elsewhere.
I don’t know about RHI rules.
Hi we have been trying to contact Greener Living for service since September, with no luck.
Then a local copmpany came round to see if they could service the ashp, £180, they told me they don't recommend weather comp. settings and I'd be better running it on a 52 degree fixed flow, which in my opinion is gas boiler mentality, so we didn't use them.
We have Ecodan so Mitsubishi recommend affiliate companies to service the ashp to stay in warranty. The 2 companies mentioned are on the list of recommended companies 🙄.
This year, our first service we have decided to go with Mitsubishi direct service £243 because at least they should be knowledgeable about the system. I have already got a list of questions a mile long.
Just had my first annual service on a Mitsubishi Ecodan 11.2kw ASHP. Carried out by the original installer (JL Phillips) for an eye watering £344 😮 . I think I'll contact Mitsubishi for advice this time next year to see if there is a competent service engineer closer as £100 of that cost was mileage!

@morgan, yikes, that’s expensive.

Indeed it is. I knew no better as it's the first service so had no idea of the 'going rate'. I was unable to find an installer close by when first investigating an ASHP but I will certainly try to find one before the next service is due. If anybody can recommend a Mitsubishi service agent in the Derby/Derbyshire vicinity please do.

@Morgan, most services I've heard of are around £250, but cost of living may have driven this up.
To be honest, even £250 is a significant amount of money for not a lot of "servicing". Ours was largely a visual inspection, some leaves removed from the evaporator fan (which I do regularly) and some panel readings. By comparison, our HVO boiler service last year cost us £75 and that entailed a new nozzle and a lot of physical cleaning and servicing.

In our warranty agreement it states the product needs to be maintained every 12 months by Mitsubishi Electric Business Solutions Partner, Accredited Installer, or a suitably qualified competent maintenance service provider or directly by Mitsubishi Electric
On the Mitsubishi website u can type in your postcode and all their accredited etc installers come up, u can choose by level. Getting a company to come out and service the ashp is another matter.
Mitubish offer 3 levels of service annual heat pump service £162, annual system service £243 or diamond cover £432 or £389 with wifi adapter.
There is a service history page in the ecodan commissioning document, similar to a car's one, to be completed when the unit is serviced.
No, I'd not seen it before either! I am pretty sure our installer didn't fill one out and the recent servicer didn't ask for it.

https://www.myecoplumb.co.uk/ did ours. Not the greatest website, but they were listed on Mitsubishi's https://les.mitsubishielectric.co.uk/find-an-installer and their Contact: Book Now page still lists ASHP annual service for £84 (I don't remember if VAT was on top). They answered the phone too, which is a bonus. Their engineer checked the controller diagnostics, checked the loft equipment, took the cover off the external unit and checked things in there, rechecked controller diagnostics, tested the heating system glycol concentration and probably other things I forget. Only drawback was the appointment was postponed once due to fixing someone else's breakdown and was made a bit late on the day by a complicated earlier job. Well worth asking, if you're in Norfolk or Cornwall.

As part of your services, did they check the refrigerant levels?
I don't think that checking refrigerant levels is common practice for annual servicing but given how important it is to the heat pump, I wonder why it's not checked.
