@julianc, I really, really like that black design of the heat pump. It looks really great.  Excellent choice.

Yup it does look rather nice. Ours is a bit more like a fridge. 😀

Thank you I think it looks rather tidy.
Here are two more views:

Yes Martin Ecobubl has to come back to do a few minor fixes, including removing the Daikin transport straps 😊

We are also, at the moment, moving two compost bins from in front of the ASHP. Give it more space to “breath”. The photo also shows the concrete base, where the 2500L oil tank was situated. We are thinking about putting a greenhouse on the base. But it will get an icy blast from the external unit. Difficult

Now the space is all cleared, how do we use it?  Will get the gate moved and a new fence added. Slab some of it

Completed the RHI application. Very easy and straightforward. All agreed on line and first payment due 27/7/21. I will receive £357 quarterly or £10,017 over 7 years. Meaning the Daikin & Mixergy will have cost £3,730. Good value

@julianc, that’s awesome. Now I’m super interested to hear about your performance, especially this winter.

Me too Mars. That’s the big question. The heat demand / heat loss calculation calculation said 7500kWh. SCOP is 2.9

Time will tell 🤞

@julianc, I assume 7500 kWh is the annual demand from the ASHP for heat/HW. So the energy used is 21750kWh?  Would you be happy with 7500 x your price per kWh for an annual bill?  My corresponding numbers are 5400/17800, which fits with my slightly smaller house/ASHP.  I'd be delighted with 5400 kWh/year.

I'm waiting to decide if I am going to get the MMSP before I apply for RHI.  I'll update my installation thread with my month end numbers.

@julianc, time indeed will tell. If temperatures at night continue to remain cool, I'd recommend doing some small tweaks (if required) to prepare for the winter.

Hi Kev, yes it’s the full demand for heat & h/w. I’m hoping the 7500kWh is a maximum, and the requirement will be less. Since the heat demand/loss calculations were set at a higher temperature than how we ran the oil boiler.
So I hope we can reduce the Daikin flow temperature. But that is all to test in the future.
Im not pursuing MMIS. It came up early on, when I was talking to EDF about a hybrid system - keeping the oil boiler and adding an 8kW Samsung ASHP. They used a control system, monthly cost of £14.99. You could claim the MMIS grant to pay for this. But that isn’t necessary for the Daikin solution. I have a very simple Nest controller, TRVs and the Mixergy tank takes care of itself.

Just seen your note Mars - what tweaks would you suggest?

Ecobubl just departed, having sorted an issue with the Mixergy/Daikin not communicating.
I will be appearing on an Ecobubl YouTube video - will share here when it’s published 😊
