Warmflow ASHP costing a fortune to run and ignored by installer

Hi everyone. I’ve just recently had warmflow ashp fitted and the installer has been ignoring me ever since. It is supposed to run 24/7 but turns off everyday and I assume costs more to restart. I cannot afford extortionate bills, it’s has been 3 weeks and my usage has been over 1500 kWh!! Before heat pump installed I averaged max 100 kWh per month. I am a single woman and have no idea what to do I don’t even have a user manual and as I say I’m being ignored by installer.

Short cycles would typically be defined as cycles that are less than 20 mins in operation (imho)... A defrost cycle once per hour in these temps seems reasonable.

When you go into settings, what is in there, nothing called 'curve'? Please post up a photo.

@myanthony Sorry, my mistake. The weather compensation is accessed from within the password protected engineer menu, page 22 - the password is '0022'

The weather compensation is called 'Ambient temp compensation'

Post up a picture of that screen if you can.

@myanthony Get on the phone to warmflow, ask them how you can access the weather compensation menu as your unit doesn't match the manuals.

Hi Merry Christmas everyone!

So i managed to speak to someone from Warmflow and we went through settings and there was no option to access weather compensation. He told me to contact engineer but I’m still being ignored. It is still turning off everyday even though no timer has been set and has used 2000kwh in the past month. Is this normal usage for this time of year? Or is it this high due to it continually turning off. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Could you please explain what you mean by the heat pump turns off every day? Is it the fan outside that stops and all your rads are cold to the touch?

2,000 kWh for a pump your size at this time of year is about right – that's around 70kWh/day at temperatures largely below 6C and in the negatives for the first portion of December. We comfortably average that with our 18kWh heat pump in December, January and February.

@editor thanks for reply. Yes around same time between 5.30-7pm I notice radiators cold and have to go switch power button back on in control panel. If that’s around average what it should be using I’ll just have to deal with it. I was just concerned that with power off/on all the time would be costing more. I’ve checked then checked again when talking to Warmflow on phone there is no timer set so it’s just quite frustrating.

Sorry I can't help OP, but installer not responding is poor form. I'd be tempted to send him an email ahead of a warning your Google review will reflect your post install experiences.

@myanthony, the fact that the heat pump is going off everyday at the same time indicates something is turning it off. Do you have external thermostats that call for heat and are they perhaps set to turn off at that time or are perhaps set to a lower temperature that turns the heat pump off because the house is up to temperature?

While your consumption is in a ‘reasonable’ range that doesn’t mean you can’t still drop that and it’s worth pursuing weather compensation and other tweaks. Every kWh saved will up very quickly over time.
