How would you rate the design, installation and efficiency of your heat pump system? Poll is created on Nov 06, 2022

Flawless – perfect in every sense.

Very pleased and it required 1-2 visits back from the installer to tweak small things.

Generally good, but there were teething issues that we had to address with the installer that should have been done in the first place

Average. On the surface the system was OK, but upon closer inspection it wasn't great and needed a lot more work to get it to perform better.

Poor. The system is expensive to run and doesn't the heat the house adequately.

Absolutely shocking. The installers fitted a system that is not fit for purpose.

I'm currently engaged in several 'private conversations' with heat pump installers and association members that have taken exception to me stating that less than 20% of heat pump installations in the UK have been flawlessly designed and installed, bringing the competency of installers into question. I believe that most systems are slapped in without much thought for design, especially when retrofitting a heat pump to replace a boiler. This results in systems that don't adequately heat the house and are expensive to run. So I'd like to see how far off the mark I am. @johnmo Interestingly (or possibly not that interesting) but I’ve found a free app called iLet Comfort that has connected to my system and lets me see and control the heating and DHW settings from my iPhone. It also purports to show the COP but I’ve only been using it for a day so that’s to be seen.

Ideal HP290 10kw heat pump, 2.99kw PV, Powerwall 2, Zappi charger, EV. Midlands location hybrid house part 1911, part 1970, part 2020s.
