@editor thank you!
These installers tell me they have installed over 100 of these and the positioning of the ASHP and cylinder is among the most straightforward they have done.
They say they have been called back to and handful of the 100+ installs and these have all been complex with copper pipe running considerable distances on outside of property. Looks like heavy duty insulation going on our pipes. Will get some more pics as we go.
@marvinator80 regarding -10 and ASHP - I have been told, that you need to take the "long view" and look over the whole year. This probably works better the more south you are 🙂
@bretix I think having aluminum i the circuit mixed with steel and copper means you need to be more on top of the PH of the circulating water as this mix of metals will have a narrow tolerance band for PH.
that makes sense to be fair. I don’t imagine we will use it very much at all April to September and it will cost very little. Our solar, battery and Eddi will be there in those months. Then I would expect it to through the winter months. If the cost of the electricity to power it across the year is less than £2k (which is my current oil cost), I’m happy and will be glad to be insulated from oil price rises for the future.
Time will tell!
@marvinator80, that's the lagging, right? Are they using heat-loss pipes to the full length of your outside run?

@marvinator80 for internal pipework, yes. for external, no. Needs to be thicker wall, minimum 19mm (3/4") and weather/water and UV resistant skin. Something like this: https://www.greenmillac.com/Products/Insulation/Pre-Slit-Insulation-28mm-19mm-2m.html
Overall good first day. Team from MCA Renewables very good and also the guy came and bought and took away my boiler, flue, fittings, and 1/3 full tank. The logistics of moving the tank at lunchtime were fun. Took 7 of us to push it up the ramp onto the trailer.
£1100. knocked £100 for the fuel we used in the last week. So with the £9k grant and money back for the boiler it’s costing me £2k which is an interest free ScotGov loans payable over 10 years.
5 radiators have been changed from K1 to K2.
