RE: is a home battery without an EV worth it?

By Judith, 2 weeks ago

@adamk will OVO accept you? Several months ago the initial “trial” closed to new entrants. And of course it is limited to make of ashp. Our Vaillant did but not all makes do.
RE: How Do I Know When the Hot Water Has Run Out?

By JamesPa, 2 weeks ago

If you can get the sensor close enough to the tank you probably wouldn't need to turn a tap on, copper is a good conductor. It could equally be a pipe going into tge tank. You might somehow have to ...
GrahamF RE: How Do I Know When the Hot Water Has Run Out?

@jamespa we are classic empty nesters. Most of the time, 200l would be fine, but when children and grandchildren come to stay we might need more. One Christmas, there were 16 of us sleeping in the h...
GrahamF RE: How Do I Know When the Hot Water Has Run Out?

By Judith, 2 weeks ago

We’re high energy users other than the ashp so the OVO tariff wouldn’t work for us, so cosy was the next best. We averaged 17p per kWh using a 9.5kWh battery to get our 7kW ashp through peak hours. I ...
RE: Who's your electricity provider and what's your tariff?

By Judith, 2 weeks ago

I’ve looked harder now (beyond OE’s site) and it’s not really news for some people But solar export is valuable to them in winter, May would be when they drop the price. Our year is up in November s...
RE: Who's your electricity provider and what's your tariff?

By Judith, 2 weeks ago

Did the information in the title come from a personal email? @TRBob? I couldn’t find any internet reference to it. Mind you all commentators on forums have said it’s too good to last.

I personally wouldn’t have a smart water meter. We’ve had a water meter in various houses for years and found we saved about 50%of water bill originally. There’s two of us in a larger house and apart ...
