UK heat wave
The garden room has hit a rather uncomfortable 37C. It’s absolutely roasting today. How hot is it where you are?

Hi Mars,
According to the weather forecast it is 29C today, yesterday was 30C.
We are therefore thankful that we installed the A2A ASHP and can keep the indoor temp down to 23C to 24C which is much more comfortable.
This was yesterday - the results of AC, a hot tub and 14kw of batteries. We can keep the heat at bay and we don't pay for it. Honestly if you have solar panels, why wouldn't you get AC - you literally only use it when the sun is shining
We live in a "glass house". No really. If you think of an "ordinary" pane of glass, 100cm high x 70cm wide, we have 85 round the bungalow. As well as partial glass roof in sitting room, dining room and conservatory (or do we call it a garden room now, to be posh? 😉)
It is 20 years old and used to get unbearably hot with the old glazing. With new, 95% solar heat reflecting roof glazing and triple glazing everywhere else, ceiling fans fitted in sitting, room dining room and conservatory and much better loft insulation, everything is better. We close curtains on the side facing the sun. Lock windows open. The bedrooms are East facing, so are cooler in the evening.
As people know from my "Worcestershire ASHP" entry here, I am hoping these insulation changes have a positive impact on our recently install ASHP.
So @mars - what roof glazing do you have in your Garden Room? Changing that could have a big impact in reducing summer solar gain. In the winter, when the sun is lower in the sky, achieve solar gain through the main windows.
Daikin Altherma 3H HT 12kWh ASHP with Mixergy h/w cylinder; 4kW solar PV with Solic 200 electric diverter; Honda e and new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N electric vehicles with Myenergi Zappi mk1 charger
Too true Batalto, you can also use it for heating when the Sun shines, but is also cold outside.
@julianc, what do you mean by roof glazing?
