Topic starter

I gather that in the hairdressers, the stylist will use an opening gambit such as  “Have you any plans for your holidays?” or something similar. My Podiatrist usually starts with something along the lines of “Doing anything exciting this week?”

Well, there I was attending an appointment in my local hospital Urology dept for a (ahem) rather intimate procedure (as you do of course) and the doctor obviously felt at such a time he might ‘break the ice; with a casual question:

”Looking forward to the New Year then?”

I replied that I was looking forward to seeing a little more sun and went on to explain about solar PV in the garden etc. He was very interested so I went on to explain a little more whilst he carried out the err… ‘procedure’. The doctor then mentioned he has been considering getting an ASHP but that his old building had very poor insulation… I explained that good insulation is always a good plan regardless of the nature of your heating; we chatted on and he seemed very pleased to have an elderly ‘techie’ as a patient. Urodynamic measurements completed, we spoke a little longer and got on very well indeed. So folks, if you wish to evangelise you can do worse than start with the staff in the Urology dept of your local hospital! Regards, Toodles.
