Having read the doc on agile integration it does actually use the half hour pricing it’s just that the Tesla app can’t display It well.  If it were me I would let the Tesla app run with it for a week and see what it decides to do with 48 different half hourly prices

@gary Thank you Gary; as you suggested previously, I’ll contact the developer as with my limited sight, I may not be seeing details I wish to in the Netzero app itself. I read the notes and understand about Tesla app not being ablr to handle Agile at all well. As I charge the DHW during cheapest hours (usually, the early hours) I wish to know when Tesla has switched to grid rather than drain the battery. Thanks again, really think it is time that Tesla Inc. set their programmers to be able to handle dynamic pricing more readily! Regards, Toodles.

A little off topic but not too far I hope. @toodles I believe we spoke previously when I was looking at AIRA for my ASHP.  Well things moved on quickly and I ended up with Octopus (great install experience). The ASHP has been in for 3 weeks and this week we had solar and a Powewall 3 installed.  Here is my question.  During the install I asked if the battery would feed the ASHP etc "yes" was the reply.  HOWVER, on the Tesla App I note that the consumption for the ASHP is not showing...

I have an octopus mini monitoring consumption and have checked during the high consumption of the ASHp and the difference with the Tesla app is 4kwh...

do you think there is a problem with the setup?

@andy_e are you saying the battery isn't discharging when the heat pump is on, if so if you look at grid consumption on the tesla app you should see it there instead?

If your not seeing at all in the app on either grid or battery charts then there is something wrong with the installation and you need get them back in, could be something as simple as a CT clamp in the wrong place or could be wired in such a way the the gateway can't see the ASHP at all.

@gary Sorry I wasn’t clear above.

Last night when the battery was charging and the heat pump was heating water etc the Octopus Mini was reading 7kW usage.  Meanwhile the Tesla app was showing the battery charging at 3.7kW but the home using 0.2kW.  I am assuming that the difference of 3.1kW was the Heatpump  if it was is not being considered in the home portion of the consumption on the Tesla App?

Looking again this morning (in second pair of images) I see that the house is running on battery which is drawing 0.4kW but at the same time Octopus mini is telling me I am using 1.9kW which I assume must be the heat pump not using the battery?

Many thanks for your view.

@andy_e Yes you are correct, the battery can't see the heat pump load, is the heat pump on a separate circut?  The issue here is that you are now paying peak prices rather than using the battery.

Same solution get them back to fix it.

@andy_e As Gary suggests, I suspect an errant CT Clamp or connection. Yes, PW3 should be able to run the HP (can’t be sure about the first second of surge on start up but I have no means of measuring the surge on my set up anyway.) I take it that you are using or arranging for a YOU tariff? If so, like me you should be able to charge during the cheapest times and run the HP ‘off-grid’ quite happily whilst the more expensive rates apply. (I am on Cosy which gives me ample time each day to charge to full capacity and be ‘off-grid’ effectively for the other 16 hours. Regards, Toodles.

You should be able to tell if the battery is supplying the heatpump (even if the app doesn't show it) by watching how fast the state of charge drops.

The difference between 400w and 2kW draw on the battery for say 1 hr should be easy to spot.

@toodles thanks. Yes I am in the Octopus Go Tarriff as my Polestar is not intelligent apparently…

I am new to this there’s been a lot of change and I hope with some tweaks things can be made to talk…

In my head it was a lot simpler… take this photo for example I can’t see why I am drawing from the grid when I have solar and battery…

You will always get some draw from the grid but it should be only for a few seconds as the system reacts to the new load.  It should be barely noticeable on half hour billing.  If its there for any length of time then something is wired incorrectly

@andy_e Did the installer set up the Tesla  PW3 app on your behalf? You may find that there are one or more settings in the Tesla app under the Powerwall group that need adjusting. There are facilities to set up your tariff details and preferences for where your solar energy is sent - and when. Perhaps spend some time looking through these to see where and when the energy flows are. Normally, my setup ensures that the battery supplies the power - except during charging hours, at those times, the grid supplies everything. When my solar production exceeds my load, I normally export everything left over. By careful manipulation of the price information you enter into the utility rate plan, you can further influence where energy is taken from or sent. Regards, Toodles

@toodles He did set up the app though I have been back through and made several changes.  I spoke with the installer of the battery / solar today and his thoughts were that the heat pump isn’t connected to the interface, so he will be popping back out to put the heat pump consumer unit on the system…

tbc…
