It’s a gas – Octopus Energy reimbursement saga!
Having had the gas meter removed over a year ago by my supplier Octopus Energy, it took some months to (at least I thought so) remove all vestiges of ever having had a gas meter from my tariffs and the bills. I even had a letter with a follow-up visit from SGN a few months back to check I was not still consuming gas and that the meter removal had been carried out to their approved standard.
I was rather surprised when I rang OE yesterday as an expected re-imbursement had not materialised; apparently, there is still some outstanding matters to be sorted on the matter of the long removed gas meter!
I had engaged OE in a long series of emails over some 6 months or more and got to feeling I knew the lady I was corresponding with quite well! About November last year, details of the long gone meter disappeared from my bills and after SGN had called and inspected I thought that that was all done and dusted. It would seem that such matters drag on for a long time - at least I am not paying for a gas meter standing charge! Regards, Toodles.

And then today, I received an email from OE with an update to my electricity meter reading from 31st May 2023 to 31st. May 2023 “where we didn’t charge you for the energy you used”! In fact it was credit for some exported energy amounting to five pounds and some pence. Presumably the SMETS2 meter likes to have it’s little secrets! (Confused?, no, just befuddled!) Toodles.
