Homely Controller now available for Daikin ASHP’s!
@newhouse87 Ah! I had not appreciated that yours was a split unit Newhouse, my system is a monobloc arrangement. From the manual data that Derek-m posted, it would seem you have oil circulating around in the pipework to the inside unit and I would imagine the frost symbol you have seen relates to sensors monitoring that pipework. Yep kinda relieved its not doing defrosts at mild temps, think every5-8hours it happens, lwt drops below rwt like a defrost, lasts maybe 1-2minutes, doesn't use much energy and lwt gets back up to set point pretty quick. Just another learning experience.
@toodles Hi
Interested in buying this system but none of the dealers seam to have the Daikin DCOM Modbus unit + PSU, Where did you get yours or was it through your installer as I am having a ASHP fitted by Octopus in March and want to make sure I have the gear in place, Thanks
@cocopops Homely supplied my kit to the installer who came along to do the install; this was a bit of a learning experience for the installer as it was his first. The controller was new to the Daikin series I have and was been closely monitored by Homely themselves.
Just a thought, if Octopus are installing for you, I take it they are still fitting the Daikin range along with their very own ‘RED designed’ Cosy ASHP’s also being available. I am unsure when the higher capacity Cosy pumps are being supplied or if they are already being fitted but I think they were continuing with the Daikin range to supplement their first Cosy pumps. As I understand it, OE are fitting the Cosy pumps with their own proprietary controller which is linked up to their network in addition to the app they provide you with. Regards, Toodles.

@toodles Thanks for that, My contract of install states a Daikin 5KW ASHP I will bring my query up with there customer installs help line and see, was considering opensourcemonitor.org (£650) pls fitting but that will only show what you tweak and did it work where as the Homely system (£368) is controlled by AI over the cloud and they take over the outdoor temp compensation curve, as I will be running it with solar and batteries I am out to use the least grid power to run it. I know this is an outside third party and if they go out of business then we will be back to me to get the best, going to link it to my home assistant also. This is my last link in the fully electric puzzle so want to get it right, Thanks again
