I have ASHP and a PV array. (only been in for 3 months)

Even on dull days I am reading a +balance on the IHD.

I'm on Octopus "Cosy" and waiting for then to start FITT "connection".

The IHD , obviously (somehow?), knows which bit of power is from the PV array ............... is there a device that would

send any balance, when there is one, to top up the DHW if needed ?

yes. myenergi eddi, marlec solar iboost, and others that I can't remember the names of, are devices that do exactly this. you will typically be able to get all your DHW in the summer and a fair chunk in the spring / autumn.

Although depending on your tariff you'll have to do the maths on whether its better to export, use it to power the ASHP for the DHW, or use the PV directly.

I actually have an Iboost in my garage that is FTAGH, (an older version that didn't play nicely with battery storage so I swapped it for an Eddi) if you are anywhere near milton keynes you're welcome to it.

@lenny yes, free -  sorry, I can be guilty of too many acronyms. although if you are able, please make a red cross donation of what you feel its worth.  Not the kind of thing that will get taken on freecycle and I don't want to take it to the tip whilst someone could still use it.

I have the iboost unit itself (which has to  wired inline on the immersion heater power cable), and the CT clamp that goes on the meter cable. the CT clamp has a wireless transmitter to talk to the main unit.

exactly what is in these pics if you google it:

It was working when I took it out.

@lenny I'm of course absolutely fine with your choice of charity, particularly as it is personally relevant to you. I'll PM you.
