Samsung Gen 7 Scheduling
I have only just realised, thanks to my Planet Device, that the pump starts to heat my DHW about half an hour ahead of the scheduled time, presumably to get the temperature up by the set time. This means that if you are trying to heat the water in a lower tariff period, you have to set the start schedule about 30 mins after the cheap tariff begins. Can anyone confirm this please, or tell me if I have misinterpreted things here?
In another thread somebody with a Samsung HP is adjusting/optimising their WL settings having balanced rads and disabled external temperature control, but is also trying to work out best to take advantge of Cosy. They have a programmable timer/thermostat which they have previously tried to use, but of course being on/off it doesn't play well with optimisation of the WL.
Aside from using Homely or some external automation like HA, has anyone here worked out how best to use Cosy with a Samsung heat pump. I believe that they have a 'PV boost' function which raises FT and is triggered by a contact closure, so one option, it seems to me, would be to use the timer to do that during the Cosy periods.
Maybe its simpler just to do DHW in the cost cheap periods, although they are too long in total for this to give a massive advantage.
I dont have a Samsung (or Cosy) so Im hoping someone who does can provide some insight.
@jamespa @broadsman I have just finished moving my Samsung Gen 6 controller from the outside boiler room into the house after finally finding a suitable cabling path. The controller has now been reconfigured to be the thermostat. After watching Mr Hendra's video
it appears the heat pump works out the most efficient flow temps required to reach the internal temperature based on the external temp. On my system in Indoor mode it no longer uses the WC I setup just for your info.
In addition I am in the process of wiring up the Smart Grid interface (which should be on the Gen 7?) which has two terminals. By shorting the terminals in the right combination it is possible to either disable all heatpump thermal output, boost flow temp by a preconfigured amount, boost DWH by a set amount or let the system run as normal. You can then use an external timer with a simple unpowered relay to switch the flow boost on and off at the cosy times. Is this what you are trying to achieve?

That's interesting, is this a new feature for Samsung do you know. How does it adjust the ft if not using the WC curve. I appreciate you may not know!
@jamespa During my reconfig I was a little confused why I could only set a room temperature target and not tell the internal thermostat which weather curve to use (there are two curves in the system) like you can with an external thermostat, that is when I came across Graham's video. I just set two schedules now with a target room temp of 21C and 19C (setback) and the controller does the rest. As the outdoor temp changes I can see the flow temp changing and the flow temp also drops down once the room temp reaches target. I can only assume it does a simpler but similar job to the Homely system regarding setting the required flow temps. Looking at the temperatures being selected they are similar to my original weather curve but flow temp control seems more dynamic as the system approaches target room temp.
Whether this is a new feature in Gen 6 and above I could not honestly tell you but I guess it would be in Gen 7's for certain.
The main thing I am pleased about is I can now have two independent controls because when the oil boiler fired up due to very cold weather the house became uncomfortable at 4am 🤣
