Reducing the amount of hot air entering the atmosphere???
Just an idle thought really but…When we burn fossil fuels, we allow energy to be converted into heat that is ultimately released into the atmosphere. When we use a heat pump for our heating, we take heat from the air / soil / water or whatever then later, release that into the atmosphere. It sounds to me as though the latter is going to put less heat into circulation - whaddya think? Regards, Toodles.
Toodles, he heats his home with cold draughts and cooks his food with magnets.

Correct. In both cases energy is of course conserved, but fossil fuels store it in a harmless way, until burned, when it is released and heats the atmosphere marginally.
However the more significant effect is the release of carbon dioxide which traps the suns energy within the atmosphere on a recurring basis (carbon footprint).

@jamespa Indeed! I was concentrating on the single aspect though, yes, the problems created by burning the fossil fuel is a fact that can’t be ignored and as you say, the energy remains, whatever we do with it. Making our world more unpleasant seems to be something that man excels in! Regards, Toodles.

Perhaps some of our politicians should have a few weeks enforced silence to reduce the amount of hot air entering the atmosphere!
