Heat pump size advice
So the Financial Director as given the green light to getting an heat pump a few months ago.
Got 3 quotes from Octopus, British Gas and Heatgeek.
Octopus: heatloss of 5.2 with installing a Daikin 6kW, design at 50c bedrooms and hallway 18c and dining and living room at 21c.
Heatgeek: heatloss of 5.3 but want to install a 7kW Valliant and stating in the survey the reason why a bigger heatpump "This is due to the latest cold snap has highlighted some issues with output figures. During frequent defrost cycles the units are looking to loose up to 30% output" design at 45c all rooms 20c.
British Gas: heatloss of 4.4 with installing a Daikin 4kW, design at 45c all rooms 21c.
If I had the money I would go with HG but it's 4x times more than Octopus.
I'm going with BG as they've price matched Octopus and will put in new pipework and repipe some plastic runs at no extra cost.
Spoke to BG surveyor(who did install heatpumps before downing tools) regarding the other surveys I gotten and he said 4kW will do the job even at -7.
After seeing multiple posts regarding DWH and in a cold snap the heating will be off for maybe 2hrs(210L cylinder) the 4kW will struggle to catch up and will be working at it's top end(which i assume isn't good for longevity)
So i'm i best asking for a 6kW Daikin instead of a 4kW?
sorry for the ramble, want to make sure i get this right as I don't want the financial Director getting cold in winter and asking to get a combi installed.
