@downfield It is disappointing to hear of that lack of attention in the maintenance. The person who has done mine for the past 4 years has always seemed thorough and plugs in a laptop to analyse the running performance and tweaks as required on top of cleaning the oily bits.  He also identified a piece of plumbing which while okay when fitted is no longer within the regs and changed that FOC.

He did point out that while there is little to go wrong normally in the outdoor unit, most of the bits that do fail are all four figure parts...which of course are covered if you have the service package!  He also pointed out that My unit which is now in year 7 will be covered by Mitsubishi's 10 year guarantee but after that although a service package is in place some parts may no longer be made by Mitsi after 10 years as that is their cut off for the parts bin. So in theory after 10 years the unit could require replacement if some part is no longer available anywhere.

@abernyte Mmmmm, I wonder, how long were parts available for the Model T Ford? Curious, Toodles.

The Octopus £9/month deal sounds reasonable but I suppose they only cover their own installations...

Mitsubishi Zubadan 14kW with Mixergy 210l DHW in 220m2 barn property. 24 solar panels = 9kWp with GivEnergy 5.0kW Hybrid inverter and 19kWh GivE batteries. Jaga Strada fan-assisted rads throughout. Landvac vacuum glazing/triple glazed windows.

@downfield Yes, that is the case. I did ask them, but they confirmed. I understand the deal is even better than the price tag, because they also extend the 5yr warranty, if I remember to 7 years. Just to confirm the Daikin’s only come with a 5 year warranty. Also in the context of maintenance it’s important to remember that the warranty is invalidated if you Don’t have a minimum of an annual service.

@downfield I have had the same thought but as you say, probably only their own installations. I contacted OE in the early days of them starting heat pump installation and unfortunately, our requirements for an installation were ‘out of scope’ - I would like to have had them install at that time though. Regards, Toodles.

Yes Octopus only have the £9 a month service plan for their own installations.

It's a 5 year plan with the option to extend to 7 years for I think I payed at the time just over £200 extra which I thought wasn't too bad.

After that who knows.
