Do you know the lifespan of your heat pump?
Our air source heat pump recently turned five, and it got me thinking about the typical lifespan of these units.
Do you have any idea how long your ASHP will last? Don’t Google it 😆
When you had your unit installed, did your installer provide specific estimates on its expected lifespan? Did they offer any advice on how to prolong its life through maintenance or other practices?
In our case, this never came up with any of our installers. I think there’ll be some really interesting answers here.

I have assumed that we should see 15 years of ‘active life’ from our Daikin - and with any luck, it should be working for another 5 years after that. I have not seen much written about lifespan but I gained my impression from general guidelines expressed by many others. We have an annual service contract - which is not cheap but does cover breakdowns and repairs as well. Regards, Toodles. (Should I go and ‘Google’ it now???)
Toodles, he heats his home with cold draughts and cooks his food with magnets.
My installer opined that the "kit" was good for 15 to 20 years life, however he felt that technological improvements may render the current equipment obsolete before the end of life was reached, where it may make financial sense to upgrade before it was beyond economic repair. I shall continue my trust in Mitsubishi's service package!
