Graph from 6am this morning,  this is frustrating, I'm trying to reduce cycling but seems to be getting worse. Not sure where to start to get it in a reasonable stat. In trying to got slow and steady!

I'm not an ecodan expert but this looks like defrost to me.  The give away is that FT goes below RT..  Conditions for defrost are about as bad as they get at present.  What is surprising me (perhaps an ecodan expert could comment) is that FT never seems to stabilise between cycles.  What's the current target ft and have you got any zoning/trvs in circuit ( I'm wondering if you have adequate system volume)?

4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.

My 14kW Ecodan is defrosting about every 2 hours this morning.  Once at 0730 and then again at 0930 (see attached).

Conditions are 3C and 88% humidity.

Is this image very small?  how can I increase the image size?

Mitsubishi Zubadan 14kW with Mixergy 210l DHW in 220m2 barn property. 24 solar panels = 9kWp with GivEnergy 5.0kW Hybrid inverter and 19kWh GivE batteries. Jaga Strada fan-assisted rads throughout. Landvac vacuum glazing/triple glazed windows.

@downfield on a laptop gives a far better graph, and if you take off hot water even more so, I found this out this week with advice from @sunandair and @gary

hi. Can you confirm if you’ve altered flow temps upwards or is this just the WCcurve on a colder morning?

second basic question: have you had the installation serviced? How long ago and has the installer checked filters or strainers?

Can you check your flow rate again that might clarify.

update. When you check the flow rate key in the 540 code and press the tick button…. Then every 2 seconds press the tick button for 2 or 3 times.
Do you still get the same flow rate each time you press the tick button?
this checks for fluctuations in flow rate….

@sunandair hi, yeah I've set WC curve to 40c @ -19 and 30c@ 4, it's averaging about 10c oat today. All actuators taken off all stats set to 17c except one in bedroom set to 21c 6am to 11pm, and setback to 19c 11pm to 6am. But I am getting graphs like I attached this morning every hour now except when dhw is on.

It's a newbuild, although system was put in 2yrs ago, we are first ones living here, I checked the y strainer.. circulation pump set to 2 for 9 L/M.  The flow rate sheet I have shows 7 loops set between 1 and 2 L/M each adding up to 9 L/M.

@boycey yes ok understood… but have you got the ftc6 reading off the screen I’m just not clear if you’ve actually got the flow rate from the built in program it’s accessed as follows:

go into service menu

tick the password 0000

scroll up 7 times

tick on Running Information

key in flow rate code with + button and right arrow button..

code is 540

press tick and read the flow rate in LPM (litres per minute)

@boycey  thanks for the update. Have you found out if the flow rate is fluctuating at all, as per my earlier post? And what’s the answer on the last time the system was serviced. This would help rule out a circulation fault.

On the new flow temps you’ve set, if I understand you correctly you’ve adjusted your WC curve to 30c flow temp at 4c outdoor ambient. Am I right in thinking the flow temp remains at 30c from 4c and upwards ie at 10c and 15c ambients it would still operate at a flow temp of 30c?

based on the above changes it sounds like you’re saying the cycling has worsened and not reduced. Is that how you’re seeing things?

@sunandair hi, its a new system, been in two yrs but not really used whilst it was being sold, i have asked the agents that maybe it should of been serviced before hand over, but waiting on that one. no fluctuations on pump L/M and yes on WC. ive set it so 30c is min flow temp, as i keep getting told Ecodans don't like flow temp below this sort of figure might even be 32c. ?

most of my graphs today are like the one i showed earlier, ive put the circ pump to 11L/M now, and set everything as per my earlier post at 3.11pm, i thought maybe my stat was kicking in and switching  HP on/off, as  although the actuators are not oni didnt realise they still have an effect on circulation pump, so all set at 17c except for one, and will sit on it for a while and see what happens. hope that all makes sense?

Above highlight

does this mean you have certain areas not operating above 17c and only one area trying to get heating up to 21c? what % of the whole area floor area is operating at 17c? Or have I misunderstood this description?

thanks

Also was there any debris in the y-strainer, was there a mesh strainer actually in the y strainer housing…. Sometimes these are removed and not replaced… just checking.

PS as it’s a new build and you are the first occupier  I think it would be worth pressing for service and induction on how to operate it.. by a Mitsubishi accredited installer.
