Green Homes Grant
After the chancellor's latest budget was announced, there was nothing to indicate that the Green Homes Grant would be continuing and everything points to the fact that it be dying a death.
The scheme was surrounded by controversy from there time it was announced and its £2 billion of funding in 2020/21 was reduced to just £320m in 2021/22. Worse yet (in my opinion) there seems to be no indication that the scheme will be extended.
What's your take on this? If there was no government support, would you shell out in excess of £10,000 for a new heat pump?

I've been advised to forget about the GHG completely and just obtain a full RHI instead. This was based on a good return over 7 years and the hasle the GHG is get.
I would probably not have signed up for the ASHP without RHI. I probably would have gone with a combination of more modern storage heaters and air to air. Because I have the capital I took the easier route and went for RHI rather than GHG.
Having said that we got loft insulation via the GHG and it was very straightforward.
@kev-m we have been advised to go GHG for the wall insulation, obtain a new EPC, ignore GHG for the ASHP and take full RHI.

@morgan, same here. Our supplier said that there would be a long wait if we went down the GHG route. We already have our new EPC, which is close to the old one but adjusted for the new loft insulation.
Question:
I intend to apply for a GHG to install wall insulation. There are only two Trademark companies in my area. Am I forced to use a local company? I ask because my preferred option re company is def’ not local.

Cheers Kev but we intend to spend the max on wall insulation as that’s the thing the EPC concentrated on. The loft insulation isn’t too bad and can be added to asap. Then issue I’m having at the moment is getting a blown bead company to answer the -hone or call me back.

@morgan, what I meant is that I don't think you are forced to use a local company, just that it might be harder to get one to travel. I'm beginning to think I was lucky finding anyone. Lots of others have had the same problem as you.
@morgan, the company we used was absolutesolar in Leicester. I think you are in Amber Valley (where I lived until last year btw) so about the same distance from us now in Lincs. They do cavity insulation so maybe worth a look.
Cheers Kev. I’ve just now emailed them and asked for a call back to discuss blown bead wall insulation.
Much appreciated.
Morgan.
