Solar PV, home storage batteries and renewable energy explained

Simon Smith

Simon Smith from SA Energy explains how solar PV arrays and home storage batteries work, and what happens in the event of a power outage. Will your solar panels continue to power your home? Will the solar PV charge your batteries? Will your air source heat pump still work? Where’s the best place to install your batteries? All this answered and much, much more.

Renewable energy and storage is an immense, complicated subject and we tried to cover as many topics and questions as we could in this interview, but we’d love to do a follow up interview and delve a bit deeper and explain things further. If you have any questions you’d like to get answered about solar PV, batteries EV charging or anything else renewable, please pop your question in the comments section below and we’ll address it in our next interview on the subject.

Can you please help, would a system of solar power and air source be enough to heat a house throughout the year.
Thanks

Hi Nina. The short answer is yes: if the air source heat pump system is correctly designed and installed for your property, it should be able to efficiently heat your home. The solar will simply assist with running costs and take on hot water requirements.
