Private messaging working?
Yes, private messaging is working. I have noticed the system doesn't always send an email. But even if it hasn't, when you sign into the site, there's a pop up in the right hand corner that says you have a message(s) waiting.

I may of course be mistaken but...
Looking back at my email history from this site I can see notifications that I've been sent a PM, but not for the most recent ones. That seems to correlate to when I've been active on the forum i.e. if I still have an active browser session then I won't get an email but if I haven't been looking around for a while then I will. It's behaviour that, if I'm correct in how it works, makes sense since if I'm on the site I'm likely to see I've got a new message so why would I also want an email to that effect?
Of course, if the site's notification system isn't that smart, I'm talking rubbish so ignore me.

On the subject of notifications, is / could there be an option to only receive one email per topic such that if a second message is posted before I've read the first, it doesn't email me again until I've read the topic? Had quite a few on one topic today...
