Octopus app question about heating flow temperature and weather compensation
Just noticed latest Octopus App has added “Heating flow temperature“ in the settings (cog top right)
In there you can “select the heating flow temperature”
First choice is “Fixed” or “WC”
Why have they given the user the “Fixed” option? I’ve watched videos Mars has done and WC is always recommended!
If you chose Fixed you can adjust the Flow Temperature between 30C-70C !
Would this be so you could run the HP at similar Flow Temperatures to a Gas Boiler so no need to change any radiators?
and wouldn’t it make energy use crazily high and cost more to operate than Gas?
Can anyone think of a good reason to select this option?
Thankfully, the default option is Weather Compensated.
Under WC are 2 sliders for Flow Temperature adjustments for Hot and Cold weather.
Hot is selectable 30C-40C
Cold is selectable 50C-60C
Has anyone advice on this setting, would moving the sliders to lowest temp for each be better for the HP giving lower energy usage?
