Could someone remind me of any interaction between any "Timer" settings on MelCloud and "Schedule" timer settings on the Ecodan FTC6.

E.G. Do MelCloud timer settings control the full ASHP on/off, or can it control heating and/or DHW?

If I make a setting on one (e.g Ecodan) should it show on the other (e.g. MelCloud)?

My primary scheduling has been done on the FTC6, but with strange events occurring, I am wondering if I should set up MelCloud with the same data

I use the MELcloud app only to set the time schedules for heating.  I vaguely remember the installer saying use one or the other, not both.

I have a Mixergy for DHW and that also has an app that calls for heat when it needs it so that's completely outside the Mitsi controls for me.

Mitsubishi Zubadan 14kW with Mixergy 210l DHW in 220m2 barn property. 24 solar panels = 9kWp with GivEnergy 5.0kW Hybrid inverter and 19kWh GivE batteries. Jaga Strada fan-assisted rads throughout. Landvac vacuum glazing/triple glazed windows.

I think the Melcloud timer disclaimer window says it all.

Melcloud timer disclaimer

Despite what would be sensible (one set of schedules configurable by both Melcloud and the in-house controller), it seems Mitsi keep local scheduling and in-app scheduling separate.

@majordennisbloodnok Thank you. I will now stick to scheduling on the Ecodan. I still feel that it is strange that any such settings are not transmitted to MelCloud.

I will be collecting data over the next days because some, but not all, of the "random" running of the ASHP may have originated in MelCloud settings I had forgotten.

I couldn't agree more. I might go so far as to change the word "strange" to "inane"; definitely not the way I believe any piece of software functionality should be designed.

A pity, too, since the hardware has, for me at least, been absolutely rock solid. I really hope Mitsi have a project internally for redesigning Melcloud to bring it kicking and screaming into the modern age.

I put the above question to Mitsu UK at the sme time as I did so on the forum, but I didn't expect a reply, because a number of previous messages have gone unanswered. However, I am very grateful to have just received a very useful response which I will share, in case it is of interest to others.

My question was: "Does a “Timer” setting on MelCloud only control the switching of the full heat pump?
If I set any schedule (e.g. DHW on/off) on the FTC6 in the Hydrobox, does that schedule show on MelCloud?"

The answer received: "The Melcloud timer and main controller timer are completely seperate and run off different logic.
For hotwater you cant put a schedule on Melcloud only on the main controller but it will state prohibit on Melcloud when the hotwater is scheduled to be off
The on/off function on Melcloud puts the entire system into standby or turns it back on.
For heating we advise to use only 1 device for the schedule"

As we expected, but disappointing that the two systems are not more closely integrated.
