RE: Who's your electricity provider and what's your tariff?

By Old_Scientist, 4 weeks ago

@toodles I agree. I was on Agile from the beginning of April but switched back to Cosy a while back as the pricing on Agile was not great, as you say. I still monitor the prices daily, and Cosy is def...
RE: Wood burner with ASHP - direct air?

By Lucia, 4 weeks ago

This depends on the size of your wood burner and size/type of house. If your house is a tad leaky, stoves labelled 5kw and below don't need direct air to satisfy HETAS regs. 5kw is a bit of a moveable...
RE: Difficult positioning of air source heat pump

By Lucia, 4 weeks ago

@rikiarn It's a not a buffer it's a volumiser which is not the same thing. It helps keep the system on its toes during defrosts in the winter, for example. It has no impact on efficiency. So no worrie...
RE: Is your heat pump insured?

By Lucia, 4 weeks ago

To make things clear, lots of insurance companies cover heat pumps, some dinosaurs will not, a few have been known to waffle on about 'units in the garden' at which point you tell them it is physicall...

By Mars, 4 weeks ago

@eliuccio this is the ambiguity that is really getting my under skin when it comes to heat pumps. A central heating system is a central heating system. Our previous policy had us "heating system" and ...
RE: Who's your electricity provider and what's your tariff?

By Old_Scientist, 4 weeks ago

@sunandair therein lies the issue - no one can say with any certainty what energy markets will look like in 12 months time, let alone over the payback period of any investment. For now, solar is relat...
RE: Who's your electricity provider and what's your tariff?

By Old_Scientist, 4 weeks ago

@chandykris in winter modelling predicts generation of 200-230kWh for Dec/Jan, and our usage is 700-900kWh, so maybe a quarter of our usage at best. Contrast in summer where we can generate upto 4 ti...
RE: Is your heat pump insured?

By JamesPa, 4 weeks ago

If it says heating system it should cover you for damage unless there is an exclusion. I would challenge them if they claim otherwise, then keep a record of their response!
RE: Is your heat pump insured?

By Eliuccio, 4 weeks ago

@jamespa this is what I thought when I read the policy but then upon conversation with their customer service they said there was nothing to update as they do not even mention them in the policy (and ...
RE: Is your heat pump insured?

By JamesPa, 4 weeks ago

Are you sure its not covered by 'central heating system' or such wording. I contacted mine (which also does not mention heat pumps) and they confirmed that all components, including external componen...
