I’m with octopus cozy, with my battery size it means that all by usage comes from the three cheap periods. I’m looking to switch to go in April, as the added solar production and less heating demand means I will be able to get through the day with the battery charged overnight. I assume an ev isn’t required for the dumb go tariff.
@adrian OE seem to require you to have an EV to take advantage of their EV tariffs (spoilsports😉) I have written to them twice and they have confirmed this. Now IOF doesn’t require an EV but, does require a compatible battery, solar panels and a smart meter. I think that by April 1st., I might be approaching the tipping point so that I could consider leaving Cosy for the summer months and start to flirt with Intelligen Octopus Flux, crystal ball anyone? As mentioned earlier, I have requested clarification on the IOF algorithm regarding the charging levels and whether grid or likely prediction of solar production would be used; I suspect that the grid will charge to full capacity of battery (or maybe just 80%) and that any solar during the day will be exported at the standard rate but any excess solar during the high rate 3 hours will then attract that higher rate. Regards, Toodles.

We are on Octopus Intelligent Go which works well for us. It also allows us to have the 15p export tariff which creates a lot of credit through the summer months.
Intelligent is great for us (at the moment), the car is plugged in a lot during the day so we get regular ad-hoc daytime cheap slots.
I have automated everything to take advantage of these cheap slots so it makes our average unit rate very cheap.
I would add that to get this advantage we had to replace our perfectly good car charger but it has worked out in our favour over the winter period.

@adrian no need to have an EV for octopus GO. U do need one for intelgenent octopus.
I was on go without an EV.
No on EON NEXT it can give u 7 hours 0-7am at a rate of 6.67p/kw.

To join Octopus Go you need to...
Be an Octopus Energy customer
If you're not with us yet, sign up below and you'll join us on one of our standard tariffs initially while we connect all the dots behind the scenes.
Have an electric car and a home EV charger
If you're in the process of getting one and have an order number to hand, we can switch you so that you're ready to charge once your vehicle arrives. If you don't have an EV charger, we offer fast expert installation.
Have a smart meter we can connect to
We can connect to second generation (SMETS2) meters, and some…

@toodles not sure why they say u need both. I was on octopus go. I have no EV and I was also getting the 15p/kw for export. I have switched back and forth beetwen to octopus go an other tarrifs about 3 times while I was with them. They never had a probelm me not having a charger. However I left 3 months ago, things might have changed 😕

@andris Maybe left hand and right hand - though usually Octopus are more consistent than this! They have certainly informed me that without an EV, I can’t use an EV tariff several times. Regards, Toodles.

@toodles It’s been a while since I was on Go (the non intelligent version), but I don’t remember ever having to provide any proof of having an EV though I might have had to tick a box to say I did.
This is unlike Intelligent where you have to successfully complete a test charge or you can’t sign up.
I definitely remember being tied to Export Lite (8p) export tariff and I wasn’t able to get the 15p export while on Go.

@arundalep I think I’ll be giving IOF a go come the milder weather… Regards, Toodles.

Looks like you can get the go (non intelligent) without an ev, just don’t ask :). I pressed the button and got the email to agree the conditions. If I were to read them before agreeing it might of course say that I should have an ev.
Outgoing 15p is compatible with it too ( https://octopus.energy/blog/outgoing-faqs/#tariffcombinations).
@adrian it does look like they’ve updated their outgoing 15p tariff to include normal Go now. About time, it always seemed unfair that IOG had the higher rate export but Go didn’t.
