‘They’ve got the Power’
Here’s is an extract from a Chinese Publication headed: State-owned Assets Supervision and
Administration Commission of the State Council. (Normally, I would prefer to provide the url but my wife who studies Chinese culture and developments found the article and on her browser, it warned this was not necessarily a safe site so I am pasting the text below)
China's Largest Onshore Wind Power Base Starts Full Operation
The 3 million-kilowatt Hinggan League wind power project in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region developed by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) is in full operation, and is now the country's largest functioning onshore wind power base.
As one of the first large-scale wind-solar power bases built in the desert areas in China, the Hinggan League wind power project, with its 701 wind turbines, has an annual green power output of more than 10 billion kilowatt-hours, equaling that produced by burning 2.96 million metric tons of standard coal and eliminating carbon dioxide emissions of about 8.02 million tons.
According to CGN, the Hinggan League wind power project is the first new energy project that exports the 800-kV direct current ultra-high-pressure power in the country.
It is equipped with the first 1,000 megavolt-ampere/500-kV main transformer in the field of new energy, which effectively drives innovation of the upstream of the industrial chain.
What's more, the project is also the first of its kind to adopt the distribution phase modifier.
The Hinggan League wind power project was built in two phases.
The 1 million-kW wind power project of the first phase includes installation of 229 wind turbines and construction of a 500-kilovolt booster station and a 220-kV booster station. It was put into operation on June 29, 2022.
The second phase of the project includes installation of 472 wind turbines and construction of one 500-kV booster station and three 220-kV booster stations. It started full operation on Dec 10 this year.
The chairman of the board of CGN New Energy Holdings said that with operation of this wind power base, the installed capacity of CGN's new energy power generation facilities in operation in China is expected to reach 45 million kW by the end of 2023.
At present, CGN has more than 570 new energy projects in 30 provincial regions new covering wind power, photovoltaic power, solar power, pumped-storage, energy storage and hydrogen power.
