Thanks @bridgetjohn. So from those pics I'm fairly certain you've got a non-Daikin thermostat which is controlling the operation. You have a fixed leaving water temperature (ie the radiator water) of 60 deg C. That looks to me like a classic case of it being set up like a gas boiler !!Â
With Derek's invaluable help I've set mine up like a heat pump - so my radiator water varies with the outside temp. It was 12 deg C when I took these pics and the system set the radiator water at 29 deg. The pump ran on tick-over all day long and kept the house at a steady 21/22 deg. All was silent ! As the outside cools the system will increase the radiator water temp. @Derek-m will advise some numbers...
Incidentally your leaving water hadn't reached 60 deg, which is a push (possibly even impossible!) for your heat pump. The little blue arrowhead on the circle indicates where 60 would be and the end of the blue curve indicates what the temperature actually is.Â
@heat-pump-newbie thank you. You are right - we have a honeywell thermostat control which is clicking it on and off as the heat drops / increases.
And yes it seems to want to "fire up" like a gas boiler - blast round the pipes and make a noise and then settle down.

Hi Bridget,
Thanks to Newbie's guidance you have discovered that your system has been set with a fixed water flow temperature setting of 60C, which is about the worst possible setting that could have been made. 😡Â
I would strongly recommend that you change your system to weather dependent (WD) control, with the following initial settings water flow temperature (WFT) 45C at outdoor air temperature of -5C and WFT of 20C at outdoor air temperature of 18C.
Newbie, would you be kind enough to guide Bridget through the adjustment process. 😎Â
As the name suggests I am new to this but here goes:
Go to Main > Setpoint mode > and left dial to highlight in blue 'WD heating fixed cooling' Press left dial to select.
**Derek - my system's not set up for cooling so is different here **
Then dial down to highlight 'Heating WD curve', press to select. Can you take a photo of that and post it here please !! Then we'll see what's next... I'm assuming there will be a default curve already there??

Hi Newbie,
Thank you for helping. Because I don't have access to a Daikin controller and the manual is not that clear, I thought that you would be of greatest help to Bridget. I hope that you don't mind.
As far as cooling is concerned, you don't really want it to operate unless you have fan coil units within your system. Passing cold water through radiators will probably lead to puddles of water on the floor.
Posted by: @heat-pump-newbiemaybe its shouldn't be set up with that option ?
Hi Newbie,
If it is possible I would suggest disabling the cooling option. If not then set the parameters such that it will never operate.
Maybe then @bridgetjohn keep scrolling on the Setpoint Mode screen and select Weather Dependant if that is an option..
@derek-m actually this description from Daikin says it's heating only ! Not sure the commissioning procedure was followed very well !Â
https://www.daikin.co.uk/en_gb/products/edla09-16d3v3.html
From reading the various manuals it would appear that the operation of the controllers is fairly standard, though some settings may be excluded if the necessary equipment has not been installed.
If you could explain to Bridget, step by step, how you set up weather compensation on your system that would be very useful.
Bridget, make a note of the parameter settings prior to making any changes, so that you can always reverse any changes.
