Renewable Heating Hub has launched a heat pump installer finder tool with what it describes as a proprietary installer evaluation framework designed to assess performance across the entire homeowner experience.
The platform moves away from the star-rating and online review model that dominates much of the home improvement sector. In its place, Renewable Heating Hub evaluates installers across multiple stages of the customer journey, from initial enquiry and survey quality through to commissioning, handover and post-installation support.
The argument behind the redesign is straightforward. A five-star review captures sentiment at a single point in time, typically shortly after installation when homeowner goodwill is at its highest. It rarely reflects what happened during the months between first contact and a working system, and it almost never captures the quality of support when something goes wrong afterward.
Renewable Heating Hub says its methodology has been developed from years of direct engagement with UK homeowners through its forums, articles, podcasts, surveys and consultation work. That body of interaction provides an unusually detailed picture of the factors that separate excellent installations from damaging ones.
“The objective isn’t to create another review platform,” said Mars Mlodzinski, Founding Editor of Renewable Heating Hub. “It’s to build a more meaningful measure of installer reliability, competence and professionalism based on what homeowners actually experience across the full length of a project.”
The launch comes as the UK heat pump market continues to grapple with the gap between installation volumes and homeowner confidence. Poor installation quality has been one of the most persistent themes in Renewable Heating Hub’s forum data, with complaints around system design, communication and post-installation support rising sharply in recent years.
