Meet Wattson – Your AI Assistant for All Things Heat Pump

We’re excited to introduce a brand-new addition to Renewable Heating Hub, and it’s not another article, forum post or newsletter… it’s something (or someone) a lot smarter.

Meet Wattson, the UK’s first (as far as we know) AI-powered assistant trained specifically to help homeowners better understand and manage their heat pump journey. Whether you’re just starting to explore renewable heating or you’ve already had a system installed, Wattson is here to offer clear, accurate and friendly guidance, anytime you need it.

What Is Wattson?

Wattson is a smart, conversational assistant trained exclusively on content from Renewable Heating Hub, along with technical guidance from some of the UK’s leading heat pump installers. We’ve spent two months building and refining Wattson to ensure it can confidently and accurately answer common questions about:

  • How heat pumps work
  • How to interpret your system performance
  • Installation red flags to look out for
  • Assist with basic heat loss calculations and radiator sizing
  • Simple explanations of flow temperatures, COP, buffer tanks, volumisers and more
  • Post-installation problems and what to do next
  • We’re actively speaking to all major heat pump manufacturers to allow us to train Wattson on their units so that in time it will also assist with error codes and basic troubleshooting

In short: Wattson is like having a heat pump-savvy engineer in your pocket, without needing to book a call or trawl through endless PDFs, manuals and books.

What Makes Wattson Different?

Unlike generic AI tools or search engines, Wattson doesn’t guess or speculate. It draws only from verified, expert-approved content, including:

  • Our detailed RHH articles, guides and my books
  • Insights from real homeowner experiences
  • Installer training manuals and commissioning documents
  • Selected conversations from our forums

We’ve trained Wattson to respond in a way that’s calm, helpful and technically accurate, giving you clear answers without the jargon. And this is just the beginning. We’ll continue expanding Wattson’s knowledge base so it becomes the go-to resource for homeowners navigating heat pumps and renewable heating.

Wattson won’t answer questions outside of renewable heating topics… it’s been trained to stick to what it knows and point users to our forums if they’re unsure.

Ask Wattson!

What are you waiting for? Ask Wattson something about heat pumps or ask him to recommend an installer near you. You’ll find Wattson on every page of the site, in the bottom right-hand corner.

A Note on Accuracy

Wattson is designed to support you with guidance, but it’s not a replacement for professional advice or design work. It won’t give personalised system recommendations, and it won’t pull in live data.

We always recommend following up with a qualified installer or energy consultant before making decisions about your heating system. You can also post your question in our forums if you’d like advice from other homeowners and experts.

We’re also working on brand-specific training, so in the near future, Wattson will be able to help answer basic questions about specific heat pump models and manufacturers (if they provide the data to support this).

Got Feedback?

If you spot something Wattson doesn’t quite get right (or have an idea for what we should train it on next) let us know. This is very much a learning tool, and your input will help us make it even better.
