Aira launches integrated home energy system it claims could cut household bills by 90%

Aira has unveiled what it calls a fully integrated home energy system that combines heating, power generation and battery storage into a single package, a move the company says could reduce household energy bills by as much as 90%.

The launch marks a notable expansion for Aira, which entered the UK market with its range of air source heat pumps and subscription-based installation model. The new system brings together solar panels, a home battery, an inverter and a heat pump, all managed by Aira’s in-house software platform, Aira Intelligence.

At the centre of the announcement are two new components: the Aira Power Hub, which converts and manages electricity from the grid or solar panels, and the Aira Power Store, a home battery designed to store surplus or off-peak energy for later use. Together, they integrate with Aira’s existing heat pump and are monitored through a mobile app showing real-time performance and usage data.

Peter Prem, Aira Group’s Chief Executive, said the new system was intended to simplify what is often a fragmented and confusing market. “By expanding our vertically integrated model into home energy, we are giving households the tools to generate, store and manage clean power efficiently,” he said. “Clean home energy solutions are pivotal to Europe’s economic resilience and energy independence.”

While Aira’s promise of a 90% reduction in monthly energy bills will likely depend heavily on household behaviour, property type and location, the company’s model is designed to optimise how homes consume and store electricity. The system uses predictive controls that respond to weather forecasts, household demand and variable tariffs, similar to the approaches already being trialled by a handful of other energy tech firms.

Kaj af Kleen, Aira’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, said the aim was to make the technology feel invisible to users. “The system predicts, optimises, controls and monitors home energy to maximise savings, comfort and efficiency,” he said.

Aira’s vertically integrated approach (handling design, installation, finance and ongoing maintenance under one brand) is unusual in a sector where products and services are often supplied by multiple companies. The company says this model allows it to manage quality and performance more tightly, while offering payment plans and guarantees of up to 15 years.

The new system enters a fast-moving market where energy suppliers, manufacturers and tech firms are racing to offer joined-up home energy solutions. As electricity prices fluctuate and grid demand grows, products that combine generation, heating and storage are expected to play a growing role in helping households reduce costs and reliance on fossil fuels.

Whether Aira’s claims translate into real-world savings will depend on how effectively its systems perform in varied conditions, but the move reflects a clear direction of travel: the era of the one-brand, whole-home energy package has begun, which could be a very good thing for consumers.
