@agentgeorge Circumstances may change things though. I had made an investment in Ripple Energy Project 4 for some thousands of pounds; the whole scheme went belly up. I made a section 75 claim against my bank as I had paid with my credit card. I think it involved a short visit to my bank with copies of the documentation and one phone call; I received a call back the next day informing me I was being refunded (they had had a fair number of claims on this particular project!) Recharges, Toodles.

@adamk it can work. I had a chair i bought was damaged, the company selling it declined to repair it. I got a quote for repair, and asked again. Declined again. I paid to get it repaired. I sent that invoice and the emails to barclaycard, asking for a chargeback for only the repair cost. After a long wait i was refunded my costs. Its not a quick process and you have to get proof the company your dealing with declines to fix the issue, but a chargeback is easier than using section 75

Just wondering rather than the fudge fix is it worth going to the credit card company and getting Vaillant to sort it.

I would be interested to find out if others do this and it works, whats we found to overcome this issue in the past is to add additional shorter flex lines in the vertical, the issues seems to arise when you have a long vertical and this acts like a piano string carry the sound through the house a bit. there may also be a difference in the 7kw V other models as they dont all seem to have the same issue.

@jamespa would you expect them to fit these free or pay? Also it worries me slightly that the manufacturer says they should last 5 years plus, would hope they don’t spilt and dump the heating water.

to be honest I still don’t know why Vaillant hasn’t been brought to task by someone over these noisy units.

I didn't know about those, they look like good pieces of kit.

They are about £30 each https://www.flexej.co.uk/shop-category/pipe-expansion-bellows/rubber-bellows/flexej-epdm-union-ends/ plus VAT It would be pretty mean IMHO of an installer not to do these for free. There again I wouldnt spend a long time arguing so as a fallback, if they are really stubborn, they will surely provide the labour and a bit of insulation for free & you pay for the bellows. OI guess they will also need a couple of adaptors, but they must use them a lot!

I imagine its worth feeling them every so often to detect possible failure before it occurs!
