I’m based not too far from you on the Suffolk/Essex border and am having similar troubles with loud, intermittent noises I think coming from the pipes since I had an ASHP installed. It has made 2 bedrooms almost unusable unfortunately. Thank you! (And thanks also to everyone who also helpfully made suggestions on this thread - good ideas for me to back to my installer with).

Hello,

So we had another visit yesterday, two installers with lot more experience. They sorted it, in about 30 minutes. They unclipped the pipes from the ceiling joists, so they now just sitting on top of insulation. Said they okay to leave as not moving.

like you all recommended it was pipes attached to joists.

They said from the beginning they wouldn’t have installed as their colleagues had. They would have gone from the top of roof and put the volumiser on top of the airing cupboard. The ceiling was like a drum vibrating from the pipes.

Anyway so far so good and we wasn’t woken last night. hope this may help someone else. We do still have noise but that is purely the ashp and when it’s not on full speed you can’t hear it.

we are wondering if this could be the noise. The force of change of thickness and if it would be better to be 28mm to the manifold. Just idea we thinking. Not sure what sort of noise this would make.

the installers are good at trying to sort the problem, I just don’t think they know what to do. So we trying to find out ourselves.

they didn’t sent specialist this time as they said they wanted to try changing the volumiser first.

Which you can’t hear in the loft like can in the rooms. I think it must be something under insulation. It’s definitely not the ashp unit, as can hear that, that’s different.

We had another one of their installers come. They changed the entry into the buffer to a side entry and changed some pipe to 28mm. And they attached buffer to the wall instead of the wood.

also they sorted the pipe that was attached to the floor with no insulation under.

however they have made it worse as we also now have the noise in bathroom and another bedroom rather then just one bedroom.
