Battery Storage Wiring Gauge Question
I'm looking to get an Seplos Mason 280/LF304 battery bundle (15kwh) and I want to place it in a little outhouse attached to the side of the main house - mainly for fire prevention reasons but it's also damned heavy! The Solis inverter is in the loft...
What is the maximum length of cable I can run between the two please? I'll obviously get the correct gauge but can't get my head around what that gauge needs to be.

As long as you like, you have to watch overall voltage drop on the DC side less than the AC. (Assume you are running in DC). I am running PV cables 40m in DC no issue, in AC it would have been quite costly and I may have had voltage drop issues.

As far as the gauge or thickness of the cable is concerned, this will depend upon the maximum quantity of power to be moved and the voltage.
If you wish to supply 3kW of power at 240 Volts AC, then the maximum current would be 3000/240 = 12.5 Amps.
To move the same 3kW at 50 Volts DC would require a current flow of 3000/50 = 60 Amps.
If you look at the current carrying capacity of different sized cable you should find the one that would meet the task.

It's a Solis 3.6kw hybrid inverter, so has a nominal 5kw max output at 48/50 vDC, which from the above would imply 100 Amps/thereabouts.
I need about 8m of length so a 1AWG or 0 AWG to be on the safe side?
25mm² cable would give 2.56% (1.23 volts) drop based on 48V, 100A and 8m.
35mm² 1.87% (0.896 volts) drop
Doesn't look like you need (50mm²)
